Home for our chicks!

We found this playhouse down the road and they were trying to get rid of it...so we snagged it and brought it home. (It looks crooked because it's tilted up on the log so we could get our hands under it to move once we were done working on it.
The color scheme was just not right for us and there were several modifications that had to be made to make this just right for our hens!
Ta-da!!! Red and white, such a farm, barn style! I love it. We made the two side windows vents and covered them with chicken wire and then Todd made doors to cover the windows for the winter to keep the hens warm.
The hole in the bottom right is where the hens will come in and out of the coop to go into their run. Also, at the top back of the coop is a vent that Todd put in so that when the windows are closed they will still have some ventilation. We will put two sheets of plexi in the front window so that they can be inside on their roosts and look out the window! We will show an inside picture once we get a little farther on that!
This is the 2nd Hen in pecking order so far. In this pic, she's telling her sister off for trying to perch on her little toy. These birds already have such a personality!!! More pics to come!
