Farm Update!

So...we bought two steers (cows for you city bumpkins) and will be transporting them from their current home to our new best friend, Jacob the Butcher! This will all be taking place on Thursday. The steers (whom will remain nameless) will fast for two days and then meat ... or meet their lifes end when they become the most tender 32 ounce ribeye steaks you've ever tasted. Anyone want to come over for a BBQ??? Hello? (We aren't kidding Alisa, this is real!)
2nd item of business on the farm is... a little Holland Lop Rabbit will be joining our farm this weekend. We will be taking name suggestions when we recieve custody of her. She will be looking for her eternal companion (who will be required to participate in polygamy to at least one other female rabbit.) Then she will begin her family which will be sold (by the pound) as pets or ... other purposes which include but are not limited to Sunday Dinner, compost makers, etc.
3rd item of farm business... we lost a chick two days ago. She was the runt and unfortunately didn't get enough to eat. We still have 9 and actually at the moment have 18 as we are chick sitting for a friend.
We are working on the coop right now and will post pictures of the progress, it's raining and this has delayed construction.
Meanwhile, back on the ranch...Saydie has been fascinated with the fact that there is a wild rabbit hiding under our shed. She is stalking the poor thing and has tried very earnestly to retrieve it. This does pose a problem for our little petting zoo we are building and are working on ideas of what to do with Miss Sayd and how to deal with this.
In other news...Emma is nearly walking and is in love with the animals. We will post pictures later on of these activities. Also, we will be accepting nationwide adoptions of our chicks. You will have the opportunity to name your chick and receive updates regularly. The chicks being named and adopted will not become dinner for ... awhile...
Due to our recent Junior Farmers Club which has formed (Ashley being the President) we will be offerring advice, assistance, and memberships for those interested in a farming future!

AAHHHHH!!!! I'm so depressed! I can't find baby chicks in the area to save my life! Everyone here stopped breeding them in spring so I have to have them shipped from a hatchery and can only get them in 25 chick incriments! YIKES!! I'm not really up on a whole flock so we'll see what happens! What is the adoption process?
Sounds like a ton of fun for you guys! Good Luck!! :) XOXO

I want pictures of Todd in bib overalls... ALSO...I can just picture him at night sitting at the fence laying wait for the coyote that tries to sneak in. Todd will be dressed in his fatigues and have his black vest and hat on just waiting for the little unsuspecting critter with his GLOC (is that how you spell it), cocked! A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do to protect his farm right?
