This is Mimi (on the left) and then her new herd mate: Daisy May. We had trouble coordinating with the owner of Mimi & Lily to pick Lily up, so we met up with a lady here in town who had babies and we got one from her last night. We put them both in the garage in kennels last night as to keep the noise to a minimum (neither was very happy about the change). This morning we put them both out in the yard and they are doing the typical goat thing...butting heads and trying to tell each other who is boss. This is why you remove their horns when they are only a couple days old...you don't want to have a horn go into your leg! Daisy is a very social little thing. She isn't scared of the dogs and although she is taking a little bullying from Mimi, she's holding her own. I was sitting in a lawn chair with Emma on my lap and 3 times Daisy jumped into my lap trying to snuggle up to me...I had to gently push her off so she wouldn't hurt Emma, but imagine having a lap full of goat when she's full grown!
This is their run, they can poke their heads out and see what's going on which is great fun for Charlie and Saydie. They've made it a game!
Saydie is standing guard to make sure they don't get out! She is the one we were most worried about with the goats, but after this morning we feel more comfortable and know that she is just very curious. She actually did really well with them and maybe she'll be the herd dog!
This is the view from my back door. To the right is where there will be 4 rows of strawberries! (Mmmmmm!!!) Behind the fire pit is where the clothes line will be. To the left of the fire pit will be about 4 grow boxes and then about 3 rows of the boxes back to the back fence.
Here's a better idea...there will be about 6 boxes in this area towards the shed.
This is the chicken coop and the chicken run. It's working out great and the chickens LOVE to be outside running around. Mimi has found out how to get into the run by hoping onto the porch and leaping into the yard. She makes quite a stir when she's in with the chicks. We just have to keep the chicken food out of reach...it's like poison to goats.
Here's some of the chicks. These 6 are all hens. There is one more hen you can't see and then 2 roosters on the ground below the picture...of course always the bossiest and in charge and have to be at the front of the line!
Here's where the bunnies are...in the shed. Todd and Sherry vented the shed to create a better air flow and help cool it down in there. Yesterday I pulled out the drill and made my compost bins underneath the bunnies. My shipment of 2000 worms arrive next week for the bins. The black plastic works like a charm to funnel all the bunny poop and pee right down into the bins where the worms will have a feast and turn it into beautiful fertilizer for our boxes!!! We still aren't sure if Elphie is pregnant. She was bred September 1st and yesterday I checked her and she was really irritated with me feeling her out. I don't know about you women who've had babies but I didn't like my OB visits either...we'll see. By about September 20th we should have a litter of bunnies. (or we'll be ready to try breeding them again!)So...that's the latest. We have about 4 people coming this week to pick up rocks from the back and hopefully they will all be gone so we can get the boxes put in and get the mulch laid and fertilizer down for the long winter to let it truly soak in before we plant next spring!

Darling photos Tiffy. You have a way of telling a story with pictures. So are we going to have chicken for thanksgiving instead of a turkey?
So fun Tiff. I don't know if I could do it.
So I got this e-mail from President and Sister Welch it is going to be a long post. I know you won't be able to come. But it sure would be fun to see you. Here it is: Hello, We hope that you will be able to attend our missionary reunion this year. It seems like it has been a very long time since we have held one. We also would ask that you send this on to everyone you have addresses and send me a copy so I can update my list.
It will be Friday, Oct. 3, 2008 and will be held here in Pleasant View. The directions are as follows. From I – 15 take exit 349, turn East go over the railroad tracks and across Highway 89, you will see the Admiral Beverage (Pepsi Plant) on the north turn left on 1000 West, right behind the Pepsi Plant and the church is the next building north. This is a different building than where we have held it before.
We will start at 7:00pm. Depending on the day and road construction, traffic can be very busy between Provo and Salt Lake, and on into Ogden at this time. It is not too bad coming down from the North.
We have missed seeing you and hope we can see many of you with your spouses and, if you want, your children. We are having finger food, to nibble on as you visit with one another. Please let us know if you can come so we can plan.
If anyone knows how to post this on the NCRM web site please help me. I can’t even find it. Also be sure and spread the word. We would rather have them notified more than once than not at all. If you can’t be here we would love to have you write and let us know what is happening in your life. We appreciate so much those of you who have kept us updated on family, schooling and the current events in your life. Thank you.
Hope to see many of you Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, 7:00 pm – 9:00pm.
Our Love To You All President and Sister Welch
