Sorry it's been so long since I posted...that's so unlike me...! But we have had a CRAZY weekend and I honestly haven't had anytime to do it! So, Saturday we sold the whiney little baby goats to a great family in the Jemez. Their daughter is going to raise them for 4-H so it was a perfect situation!!!
This is Nutmeg, or Meg as Todd calls her. She is a female even though she has a beard! She is such a gentle and mild mannered creature. She will lick Emma's fingers and will gently eat from our hands! She is about 6 years old and is a VERY experienced mother so she will be the first of our "herd" to be bred! She is giving us a half a gallon of milk a day and it is soooo yummy!
Here's a side view of Meg. She needs a bath but we are going to wait until after she's bred because the buck will get her dirty all over again!
This is Felicity. She came from Deb here in White Rock. She is just over a year old and is full grown. She is a Nigerian Dwarf. She was in heat the day she arrived (lucky us!) and we will wait until about November to breed her. She is VERY quiet as well and only cries when we let her and Meg out of their yard to wander the entire backyard...I think she feels insecure still.
This is the "barn" that Todd and I built for the goats on Friday. It's 8'x8' so plenty big enough for two mommas and their babies! It's so cozy inside filled with hay. We are going to paint it to protect the wood and will put some kind of protective roofing on to keep the rain and snow out.
This is where we store their hay, in the bunny barn. They eat about a flake of hay a day. (There are about 10 flakes in a bale for all of you not use to the farm lingo!)The goats have been great, we did have an incident with Saydie and one of the baby goats, but Todd is trying to convince me to give Saydie a 2nd chance (more like a 50 billionth chance) and keep her around...we'll see what happens!

For the love of Saydie I'm agreeing with Todd! (Wow, who would of thought that an espanola shelter puppy would bring us to agree on something:) hehe )
So what do the neighbors think about the new friendly neighborhood petting zoo? : ) Do you charge admission because that could turn some profit! : )
